Police Tips

The reporting of a false crime is illegal in the state of North Carolina under statute 14-225:False reports to Law Enforcement Agencies or Officers. Please note that it is a misdemeanor to make any false, misleading or unfounded report that is intended to interfere with, hinder or obstruct a law enforcement officer from doing their duties. Violators can and will be prosecuted. 

TOLL FREE TIP LINE

The Spring Lake Police Department has a toll free tip line for any one with information pertaining to a crime or incident that has occurred within the Town of Spring Lake. You can call, free of charge, and leave information you feel is relevant. Callers have the option to remain anonymous. All information provided will be processed and valid leads will be followed-up on by the appropriate member(s) of the Department.

Please note: This is NOT a number to call for emergencies. If you are in need of immediate assistance or need to communicate an emergency situation, call 911.

The SLPD works with Cumberland County Crimestoppers who partners with the Fayetteville Police Department, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Hope Mills Police Department.

Citizens are asked to call Crimestoppers at 483-TIPS (8477) or toll free 866-542-TIPS (8477) if they have information regarding criminal activity.  This number is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is designated for Crimestoppers information only.  All calls are kept in complete confidence. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by downloading the FREE P3 Tips App on your mobile device or online electronically. If the information you provide leads to an arrest, you may receive a cash reward, as determined by a citizen board, of as much as $1000.  The amount of the reward varies, depending upon factors such as the information given, the nature of the crime committed and the value of any property or narcotics seized.  Also, Crimestoppers pays cash rewards for any information that results in the arrest of fugitives from justice or anyone committing a felony or serious misdemeanor.
