The Town of Spring Lake and officials with the N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) met this week (January 22 , 2019) to discuss short-term and long-term ideas to improve safety and pedestrian access, particularly along Bragg Boulevard. Last year, NCDOT completed a project to widen the road, build the Poe Avenue overpass and construct a Murchison Road interchange with Randolph Street.
In the short term, NCDOT will address:
Pedestrian signal and crosswalk near the intersection of Bragg Boulevard and Lillington Highway
Speed reduction request along Bragg Boulevard
Additional pedestrian signage
In the long term, NCDOT will work with local planners to evaluate additional grade-separation, such as a bridge for pedestrians and vehicles.
