Inclement weather

WEATHER STATEMENT:

We recommend that you monitor local weather reports for the most up-to-date reports.

As always, any and all effects/impacts on Town services or operations will be posted as they are reported. Please remember the best time to prepare is before any storm or weather approaches.

The Town will post all need to know information AS IT RELATES to the Town as follows: posts will be made to social media (facebook & twitter) as they filter in. Posts will be made to the Weather Alert page of the Town’s website and will be marked with the time and date with the most recent on the top. Critical notifications and reminders will be “pushed” out via the Town’s app (don’t forget you can access all posts directly from the app so download it if you haven’t already.) The Town will also make every attempt to share information regarding impacts from the surrounding area and need to know information as it pertains to the weather.

It is a good idea to be sure to make sure you have enough essentials such as your prescription medications, heating supplies (if you have firewood or gas), pet supplies etc. to last for 5 days.

If you are able, take the time to check on a neighbor – especially if they are elderly or live alone – and do not forget about your pets… they count on you.

Remember to use caution if you have to be out and about – if you are able, stay off the roads. In the event of an emergency, call 911.

In case of a power outage due to the weather, please use one of these numbers to report to your applicable power company
Duke Energy Progress 1-800-769-3766
PWC 1-877-687-7921
