
The Town of Spring Lake is seeking a highly organized and customer-focused professional to serve as the Communications and Front Desk Coordinator. This position is responsible for managing the Town’s public communications and providing front desk reception services at Town Hall.
The role directs and executes the Town’s communications strategy, including public information, media relations, website and social media content, marketing initiatives, and community outreach. In addition, the position serves as the primary point of contact for visitors and callers, ensuring professional and efficient front office operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Communications and Public Information
• Develop and implement the Town’s communications strategy to ensure consistent and effective messaging.
• Manage and update the Town’s website and social media platforms with accurate and engaging content.
• Write and distribute press releases, newsletters, public announcements, and marketing materials.
• Serve as a liaison between the Town and media outlets.
• Coordinate public information campaigns and community outreach initiatives.
• Support communication efforts during Town Board meetings, workshops, and community events.
• Monitor social media platforms and respond to public inquiries in accordance with Town policies.
Front Desk and Customer Service
• Serve as the primary receptionist for Town Hall.
• Answer and direct incoming phone calls and greet visitors in a professional manner.
• Provide information to residents regarding Town services, programs, meetings, and events.
• Receive and distribute mail and packages.
• Maintain an organized and welcoming front office environment.
• Assist with administrative duties including data entry, document preparation, and scheduling support.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two (3) years of administrative, communications, public relations, or customer service experience preferred.
• Experience working with social media platforms, website content management, or marketing communications is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with residents, elected officials, staff, and media representatives.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office technology.
• Experience with website management and social media platforms preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Excellent customer service skills.
Special Requirements:
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License or ability to obtain one.
Work Environment:
This position primarily operates in an office environment at Town Hall. Duties may require extended periods of sitting, computer use, and occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
