Our flags will be flown at half-staff today, Wednesday May 15th, from sunrise to sunset, in honor of Peace Officer Memorial Day and this week being Police Week.
We ask that everyone take a moment and reflect on the importance of this day, as well as thank an officer for the bravery and sacrifice they give, and that we be extremely mindful and thankful of the 106 heroes, men and women, who laid down their lives last year to protect and serve our communities.
Police Week was instituted in 1962, with May 15th being designated as Peace Officer’s Memorial Day, which falls during this week.
Today the White House will be lit up in blue in memoriam on May 15th, 2019, and the President has asked that all business and homeowners display the flag tomorrow.
