The Town of Spring Lake would like to provide an update regarding the ongoing water main leak along NC Highway 87 (N. Bragg Blvd.), near the intersection of Odell Road, in the vicinity of Williams Chapel Church.
🚧 TRAFFIC DETOUR UPDATE:
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has approved a traffic detour to allow crews to safely complete the necessary repairs.
🚗 Traffic will be diverted via Highway 210 and Manchester Road.
📅 Tuesday, October 27: The traffic control contractor is scheduled to begin setting up detour signs and traffic control measures. This process is expected to take approximately one day.
📅 Wednesday, October 28, at 8:00 PM: The detour is tentatively scheduled to go into effect, allowing repair crews to begin the necessary work.
🔧 WATER MAIN REPAIR PLAN:
Crews will perform the following work:
🔹 Excavate the affected area to expose the leak and trace the damaged water line back to the main line.
🔹 Excavate the main line to disconnect and permanently remove the leaking line from service.
🔹 Complete temporary roadway repairs to allow the detour to be lifted and traffic to resume.
Once the initial repairs are completed, additional crews will perform the final paving of NC Highway 87 and restore the affected sidewalk.
⚠️ IMPORTANT REMINDER:
These plans and timelines are tentative and subject to change based on field conditions, the extent of the repairs, and any unforeseen circumstances.
🚗 MOTORISTS: Please plan accordingly, anticipate traffic delays, use caution when traveling through the area, and follow all posted detour signs and traffic control measures.
The Town appreciates the continued patience and cooperation of our residents, businesses, and motorists as crews work to resolve this issue safely and efficiently.
📢 Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.
