Backpack giveaway and back-to-school event was a huge success

The Town of Spring Lake community was blessed yesterday with generous donations for the kids with an event held at the Spring Lake Recreation and Community Center titled ‘2nd Annual Everybody’s Family Reunion’ and presented by Cora’s Community Foundation and Everybody’s Family Music Group.

The event kicked off at 2:00 p.m. with backpacks being picked up inside the Recreation Center where the kids could also stop and get a fresh style or cut, just in time for back to school.

After they grabbed their backpacks, the families were treated to tons of other fun stuff just outside near the Splash Pad.

As they passed through the colorful balloon archway, they could find pizza, chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, some good ol’ fashioned home cooking, some super cool face painting and crafts, icy cold sno cones, the DJ spinning and blasting some live music, an actual ground shaking dance performance by Dreamville Dancers, a couple of really, really cool cars, and last but not least, a personal appearance by the Fayetteville native and well known rapper, Morray.

Morray was spotted by Mayor Kia Anthony at the local WalMart earlier in the day buying the supplies needed for the event. He was on hand to take pictures and sign autographs with the families and fans.

Some of the wonderful vendors on hand were Julie Leyva of East Coast Snowie, Lakisha Edwards of Queen’s Touch Creations, Tiffani S. of Styled_By_Tip, FlipFlop BBQ, La’Careecia McLaughlin of Reece’s Kitchen and Catering, Tink’s Temple with face-painting and crafts, The Dreamville Dancers, 104.5 FM and more. If you were part of the event and are not listed, please graciosuly add your business to the list.
